Pharm-D Health Science is proud to announce a clinical research collaboration with the esteemed Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) for a promising clinical study on postbiotics to investigate the effects of postbiotics on gut and immune health, utilising a novel probiotic strain isolated from a locally fermented food origin.
This exciting partnership brings together industrial leaders in health science with Malaysia’s premier research university’s School of Pharmaceutical Science (PPSF) and School of Industrial Technology (PPTI).
Leading the Pharm-D charge is Chairman Mr. Ang Khoon Lim, alongside Mr. Terry Chin, the Group’s Product Development Director. From USM, a powerhouse team present were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurzalina Abdul Karim Khan, the Dean of PPSF, USM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardiana Idayu Ahmad, the Dean of PPTI, Dr. Chong Chee Ping from PPSF, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Joo Shun from PPTI, together with co-researchers including Dr. Ahmad Zaimi Abdul Latiff, the Director of Pusat Sejahtera USM, Mr. Ho Rhu Yann from PPSF, and Ms. Goh Kar Shin, a PhD candidate.
The clinical trial is led by Dr. Chong Chee Ping from PPSF and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Joo Shun from PPTI, together with co-researchers including Dr. Ahmad Zaimi Abdul Latiff, the Director of Pusat Sejahtera USM, Mr. Rhu Yann Ho from PPSF, and Ms. Goh Kar Shin, a PhD candidate under joint supervision of both Principal Investigators.
This research partnership marks a significant step towards advancing postbiotic research in Malaysia: it will delve into local-derived postbiotics, particularly in the Asian population and explore their potential new frontier health benefits.
